YOU'RE NOT A STARVING ARTIST:
Starving artist, you never want to use that word. You are not starving, you are all that is, all that was and all that ever can be. Start there and let the rest fall to the side. When you hear that (starving artist), know its a trap. It could be your close friend, family member, instructor who's babbling something they heard. It's not true.
ACTOR: TO BE OR NOT TO BE:
You are an actor, and that is your job. To live truthfully under imaginary circumstances. So when you are given direction from a CD or director, just process it, take a breath, take the room, its yours, take another breath and do you best to understand what they want in that moment. Do your best to breathe in that moment and translate what they would like you to do and allow yourself to be. And when you make a choice, make sure you are specific.
Your head shot, an 8x10 picture and 8x10 resume paper to match gets stapled on the back of your picture with two staples, one on top and one on the bottom of your head shot. Staple them together and you now have your head shot and resume. You must do your homework and vet photographers, they will work with you and give you choices rather than promises.
“All courses of action are risky, so prudence is not in avoiding danger (it's impossible), but calculating risk and acting decisively. Make mistakes of ambition and not mistakes of sloth. Develop the strength to do bold things, not the strength to suffer.” - Niccolo Machiavelli
