Michael I. Haber was born in Brooklyn, New York and loved music from a young age. Perhaps his greatest memory of it was through Walt Disney movies and musicals through his childhood. Michael’s first school play was ‘Holiday Musical’ singing “What A Wonderful World” and “I Believe I can Fly.” That event being his very first steps onstage was also a terrifying one. He overcame his childhood stage fright when a microphone was placed into his hand for the first time.
Eventually Michael moved to Old Bridge, New Jersey and began to train in voice, dance and acting. Just some of the productions he accomplished include: GOOD NEWS, CINDERELLA, GREASE, THE PAJAMA GAME, BYE BYE BIRDIE and OKALHOMA and CHILDREN OF EDEN. His endeavors took him into dance recitals with the New Jersey State Theatre and summer theater intensives with the George Street Playhouse. He began training with Broadway Artists Alliance with such greats as; Skylar Astin, Aaron Tviet and Alice Ripley. More mentors were to come including Christy Altomare (star of Broadway’s ANASTASIA and MAMMA MIA) and Mary Setrakian (legendary NYC vocalist and coach of Nicole Kidman and Broadway’s Sierra Boggess).
He went to the Middlesex County College and continued his passion by majoring in theater. While attending he took on the project of 5 MINUTES TO CURTAIN (a play within a play musical revue) as a featured player. Staged readings include: A CHRISTMAS CAROL and BETWEEN A PRINCESS AND A WITCH. Eventually graduating with an Associates Degree in Theatre/Fine Arts (AFA),
Just a few of his film credits include: THE BIG C, THE CARRIE DIARIES, NEW YEARS EVE, HOME (an award-winning film by BLUE BLOODS’ co-writer Jono Oliver.) and eventually became a proud member of SAG/AFRTA. Michael is also an active and professional member of Bobby Holder’s THE ACTOR’S PROJECT NYC nicknamed, TAP NYC. From there he has brought to life countless characters through monologues in front of countless industry officials.
Along with THE ACTOR’S PROJECT NYC, he appeared in numerous Off Broadway shows including appearing in certain performances as part of THE EAST 4TH STREET SINGERS in the NYC premiere of David Grieg’s acclaimed play THE EVENTS at the New York Theatre Workshop. He also appeared in Matthew David’s acclaimed plays CHERISH EVERY PRECIOUS MOMENT, GOSSIP OF THE HARLEM RENASSIANCE, THE RIGHT TO LIFE, and FOR THE LOVE as part of the NEW YORK INSPIRATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL.
He studies with Carner & Gregor and has performed at the Don’t Tell Mama piano bar with Seth Bisen-Hersh as well as raised money for The American Suicide Prevention cause at the West End Lounge.
Other projects include: Back up vocals for Carner & Gregor’s album CARNER & GREGOR: ONE, a table reading of an upcoming untitled musical, New York City’s “The Triad” at Carner & Gregor’s holiday concert “Somebody Put Acid in the Egg Nog.” and the original cast recording of NATASHA, PIERRE, & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 (starring Josh Groban)
Some of Michael’s upcoming projects will include a featured role in the short film THE TREE, written, produced and directed by Jesse Swenson (Broadway's original SPRING AWAKENING and THE ADDAMS FAMILY).
Michael's plan within the next 5 years is to continuing to working in the worlds of Theater (especially doing Broadway, Off Broadway, National Tours, Regional Theatre plus readings and workshops of new shows being developed for the stage), Film, Television, Recording, and the concert stage (especially performing with some of the world's major symphony orchestras).
